LPN Admits Abuse of Elderly Nursing Home Resident
We discussed Shonda Rodriguez and her alleged abuse of an elderly nursing home resident at Castle Pines Nursing Home in previous blogs.
Rodriguez, who formerly was employed as a licensed practical nurse at the Lufkin, Texas facility, reportedly slapped the hand of a facility resident and woman was found with bruises on the backs of both hands and a skin tear on her upper arm.
Rodriguez pleaded no contest on December 15, 2009 to charges of abusing an elderly patient and was sentenced to two years' probation, ordered to pay restitution, and fined $500. She was also ordered not to work with the elderly or small children in her profession as an LPN.
